As sisters we have failed. Failed to post monumental, funny, stupid, insignificant, touching, and other blog worthy thoughts, comments, and events. For this we are terribly sorry. As sister #3 I am going to begin my part in reviving this blog. I, Meghan Kranz, promise to blog each Tuesday. Much like Morrie was famous for Tuesdays, I also, want to be known for Tuesdays. I cannot fix my sisters but I can do my part. Right? Hopefully they jump on my bandwagon. :)

The last weekend of September was a beautiful weekend. We were all togethers! 1, 2, 3, &4. That was a beautiful moment. I had not realized how long it had been since we had all been together. The weekend was also not planned...it just kind of happened. Katie, asked me to come and be her assistant for her fabulous weekend of 10 year reunion tailgates and gatherings at the Academy. The big tailgater and football game happened to be on Eileen's birthday, so in true Eileen fashion she believed this tailgate to be a 30th birthday party. Mom and Dad were not going to miss an opportunity to be around Academy shenanigans, and Lisa was uninvited to the weekend. She "had to work". Lisa did not obey. She also showed up. So, in rolls the family thinking we are going to have this fabulous weekend of togetherness but Katie has our weekend planned to a T, and Josh was right behind us keeping us in line. It was a fun party...the class of 02 and the entire Kranz family! Of Course! :)
In the end, it was a wonderful weekend. Katie is an amazing party planner. She orchestrated a flawless weekend of Navy fabulousness.
Yay for being together! I love us.
That's all I have for this Tuesday.
This is probably the most perfect song in the world for an actor/singer/dancer. The world of Theatre is one of rejection. I know this all too well. I’m fully aware (and fully prepared) to live a life where I’m told no on a daily basis, and auditioning is the bulk of the work I do.
I’ve chosen the life of a “working actor”, and it will take time and care for me to find my footing. This is totally normal. As soon as I do get that role I wanted and get to do what I love, its all worth it. I love what I do, letting it break my heart 90% of the time is totally worth it. The things that are posted on a call list or cast list do not have any effect on who I am as a person or negate my talent and training level.

I ask you, family and friends, to be patient with me and not to lose hope. I won’t always bring the bad news, no one wants to read a blog about the roles I didn’t get. Even so, I have to be honest. It won’t always be like this.

It has been rough, but I know I'm here for a reason. I have had the privilege to recieve an eduacation in performing arts, and I have every intention of making the most of the knowlege I have and moving forward in the world, letting go of any roadblocks and struggles I had; they have only made me stronger. This is a point where I can only look back on what I learned here, and make the best of what little time I have left.
It's amazing how through the times when we feel we're at our lowest, God is teaching us things that will bring us to our highest. On September 29th, I had my tonsils removed. Seven days out of school, a struggle for myself, professionally. One Month, no exercise, totally taxing on my body, mentally and physiologically. Meghan is just all off...
I will tell you that even stuck in a rut, the blessings in my life are shinning bright. So many amazing friends have surfaced and been incredible rocks for me, I have a new roommate and I LOVE living with her.

God is good. Life is good. Only following HIS will for me will get me out of this rut.

Song for this time in my life.
You know the summer time is gone now
All the leaves are on the ground
Everything is turning
Stuck in a rut

You know another year is over
Ad another candle is on the cake
I ain't getting any younger no, no, no
Stuck in a rut
And only you could get me out of this place

[Chorus]
Save me
Give me what I need
I know you can break these chains
And set me free
Save me
Give me what I need
I know you can break these chains
And set me free
Set me free

You know the wintertime is here now
And my poor heart is freezing up
Keep, keep the fire burning, baby
Stuck in a rut
And only you can melt the pain away

[Chorus]

Wishing you were here
'Cause I can't hold on calm me down when I lie awake
All night long
Hello World, Meghan here: The worst of all Kranz sisters at blogging. Call it a lofty goal but I must hold my feet to the fire or I will continue to be the slacker in the crew. Every Tuesday I have dinner with my parents, giving Tuesdays the title "Tuesdays with Meghan". Catchy, corny, whatever, that is what you are getting....Each Tuesday after dinner with my parents I will write to the world, so grab your evening cup of Tea and each Tuesday get ready for "Tuesdays with Meghan".
So this Tuesday I must catch myself up. 8 Months ago I wrote a post titled "My amazing Class", where as it did tell you lots about my class and their funny antics, it in no way informed you about Me. I wasn't satisfied with just ONE chalkboard in my livingroom though.
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I have a couple points of interest to discuss:
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">1) New format for blogging.
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">2) The latest addition to our family.
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">3) An outline of posts-waiting-in-the-wings.
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">1) First things first. I had this idea for blogging that I saw on a couple other blogs with multiple authors. Not that it's SO hard to alert the world (that is, our 10's of millions of readers....is there anyone here?) of who the "speaker" is, I thought it would be fun to at least TRY to color code the author. So, from now on the color/writer assignments are as follows:
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Katie
<div style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Eileen
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Meghan
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Lisa
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">If anyone has an issue with their color we can make adjustments, just say! Also, I goofed around with the template/layout... change it back or to something else if you hate it!
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">2) Matt and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday- I can't believe 2 years have gone by already! Anyways, to celebrate we pulled out all the stops cooking up a delicious meal, complete with tenderloin steaks, a yummy sauce that Matt whipped up, and red bell peppers stuffed with quinoa and red-wine portabellas all paired with Heston Vineyard's 2005 Cabernet. For dessert I baked bacon-bourbon brownies to go with Artiste's Le Bec Sucre. Yes you heard that correctly. Bacon. Bourbon. Brownies. How bad can that be?
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Anyways, the point of item 2 was not about our anniversary, but about the gift we received from our neighbors. Those of you who know about our neighbors know that "neighbor" is code for "construction crew." They are actually quite nice, though loud during the day. It seems to be a kind of DIY operation going on over there, and the owner of the property recently made a hefty purchase, which is what I mean when I refer to the "latest addition to our family"........
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

As you all probably by now know, our fearless leader Katie will soon be departing this fair country to defend our freedom in Afghanistan. In the spirit of true patriotism, Katie and I spent 4 days in Napa, California indulging ourselves in fine food, fine wine and of course the spa as a last hurrah before she leaves for a whole year!

Pictoral highlights:

Day 1 (Tuesday): Pedicures! Complete with a crisp chardonnay and cheese platter that included lavender infused honey (because everything is apparently more delicious infused with lavender). Katie selected a classic red color, while I got peer-pressured into the brightest neon pink we have ever seen!

I was henceforth referred to as Her Royal Highness Napa Valley Barbie

Day 1 (Evening): Morimoto's tasting menu. The food was incredible, the wine was even better....trust me, when you throw the money at the Omikase menu, the sommalier pays at smidge more attention to your particular pairings....

Morimoto's minced toro platter. Like we needed it.

Day 2: Early workout to offset the previous evening's indulgence, breakfast in the Concierge lounge followed by a trip to the spa for a relaxing round of body scrubs (there was a point where we were smothered in honey and grapeseeds and wrapped in cellophane.....it was awesome) and facials. Once we were relaxed and rejuvenated, we spent the afternoon poolside with snacks, wine, and a couple of good books
(Katie's reading about politics, I read social sciencey books, are we surprised?). That evening we had appetizers and Pinot Noir in the lounge, went back to the room to watch a movie. I think that our goal to Go and Be and Stay was a success....we didn't leave the resort all day!

Day 3: (Thursday): After 2 days of spa relaxation, we finally emerged from our hideout to experience the other offerings of the Napa Valley. Matt came to meet us...he was NOT invited for the first portion of this trip. After a swing by our favorite haunts (Conn Creek and Mumm), we had the pleasure of experiencing the St. Helena bocce league night that our friend Paul is a part of.

Thursday evening we went to Ana's in St. Helena which is locally famous for its Thursday night Karaoke. We were all set to rock out to Lady Gaga's Edge of Glory, but of course the DJ doesn't have it yet, so we had to fall back on some old favorites (e.g. Total Eclipse of the Heart; Heartbreaker, Holding out for Hero), and my favorite homage to the Navy's most fabulous officer "Take My Breath Away" (I'm talking about Katie here, not Tom Cruise)

Day 4: To continue our theme of excess and indulgence, Katie, Paul Matt and I went to The Kitchen Door for brunch, and gorged ourselves on fancy flat bread, Kobe Burgers, Bread Pudding etc... no pictures to prove it but the meal was delicious! After a quick swing by Stag's Leap for a tour/tasting (thanks as usual to Paul's connections!), Matt and I had to leave paradise for a dinner with his parents before hopping on a red-eye back to Boston. We left Katie behind to do further damage around Saint Helena and San Francisco with Paul.

Happy Two days after independence day!
This was possibly the most picturesque 4th of July I could possibly imagine. My friend Whitney and I headed to the little Kansas town of Wamego, about 30 minutes east of Manhattan. Wamego claims itself as the Kansas Town that Miss Dorothy Gail, from the "Wizard of Oz" Hails from. There is even a winery with "Witch in a Ditch" red wine! Naturally, before hitting up the big carnival and parade, We stopped in for some free air conditioning at the "Oz Museum".

Museum Hopping. Wamego offers many museums full of things that are very very old, Scary mannequins that look like J.Crew Models, and extensive miniature farms (complete with raisin poop!). Also a giant stuffed buffalo. Welcome to Kansas!
Tilt-a-Whirl, new friends, old friends, small town patriotism. I conclude that this 4th of July was, for me, just like a Hayley Mills movie.
No offense was intended to any of the mentioned parties.

As the resident Ph.D in the group, I feel it is my obligation to educate you all on the pitfalls of what we in the world of Social Psychology refer to as "social loafing" and "diffusion of responsibility"

By definition, according to Wikipedia, (because I'm too lazy to look up a more legitimate source... like the Intro Psych book that's 10 feet away from me. Don't judge, I just ran 13 miles.), social loafing is a phenomenon that occurs when people exert less effort when working in groups than when they work alone. As the number of people in a group increases, people begin to experience what we call "deindividuation," in other words, their role as individual doesn't seem to matter as much, and therefore they will do less work toward the desired goal of the group. Individuals start to feel as though they have less responsibility towards that goal, and will assume that someone else in the group will take responsibility for the necessary actions.*

Say, for example, you're cooking (on the stove). You have 4 helpers who are all eager to assist you, but also busy with other tasks, and are also well aware that they are a single member of your "helper team". You request (to no one in particular) that someone clarify a pound of butter (because what's better than more butter?). Several minutes later you notice that there is no butter on the stove and your recipe is now ruined. What happened? What most likely happened is that everyone in the room assumed that someone else was taking care of your request, with the end result being that the task was never completed. This phenomenon is the reason why when you get CPR certified, you learn that you must always point to a specific person and ask that THEY call 911. This is also, tragically, the reason we had to learn, as a society, the hard lessons from the case of Kitty Genovese.

On a less sobering note, you may be wondering why I am giving you this crash course in social psych? While I'm fairly certain that Meghan's 3rd graders truly are amazing, I highly doubt that that is the most interesting thing going on in the lives of the 4 Kranz Sisters in the last 3 months.

For example:
1) I know for a FACT that Meghan ran the San Diego Marathon last weekend.
2) I also know that Lisa has written music, recorded a video and posted it on YouTube
3) I ALSO know that I graduated from grad school for the 9th time and have pictures to prove it.
4) I was also recently informed that Katie has been given orders on her next big international adventure.

These are just a few tiny morsels of knowledge that I possess about our ever exciting lives. So why has no one blogged? Some might say that we, as a group, are engaging in the aforementioned social loafing, and are experiencing diffusion of responsibility. The only alternative explanations are that a) we are boring. b) we are lazy. c) we are too stupid to type words.

So, the question I pose to you all now (in the words of Mom): Are we stupid, or lazy?

Or, in the words of A.A. Milne "get out of my chair, dillhole"

*To any of you readers out there who have more expertise than I in this area (I'm looking at all of you Brandeis-ers in particular), don't judge me if my descriptions are not comprehensive, see my comment about the running. and the 13 miles.Katie Eileen Meghan and Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07962660245650861754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6336465851607318364.post-47451138981650898752011-03-02T09:53:00.000-08:002011-03-02T09:53:55.865-08:00My amazing class!Just a quick post from me, Miss Kranz.

Ah! It's state assessment time! I love this time though because I really get to see all my students push themselves and they grow a ton! It's incredible to see! Our theme for state assessments each year is "Rock the Test". We set goals for ourselves, wrote them on paper guitars, and hung them around the classroom! They loved this!

After state assessments each day, I allow my kids to have free time. They need the break. We were jamming out to some tunes, some kids were dancing, and I took this video! Oh the joy that I find each day in my classroom!

Love my kids!

"I promise you every day your children will learn something. Some days they'll bring it home in their hands. Some days they'll bring it home in their heads. And some days they'll bring it home in their hearts."
It was just so wonderful, my brain couldn't contain all the Happy Birthday memories.....

My friday, February 4th started out innocently as ever. My 9 am class was cancelled. I was thrilled, I had opened my first K-State mainstage show the night before, naturally I was exhausted. In no rush to clean (because my parents weren't coming up until Saturday, my birthday) So I bummed around my dirty house, took Amadeus for a walk, went to my favorite coffee shop for a cup of coffee and reading. Nice, relaxing morning before my afternoon classes and my show that evening.

I got an unusual text message from my father at 2:00, while sitting in Theatre history.
"hi lia. on our way." Oh Dad texting. He must be confused on his new smartphone.
"On your way WHERE?!" I was panicked.... My house was a mess, I had class until 4:30, so no time to go home and clean up before they arrived.

Oddly enough, my Roommate, Lauren, didn't seem panicked about this at all. (out of her personality. Typically she would be panicked and upset that I was SO disorganized not to know when my parents were coming....) Turns out...she was in cahoots with Meghan and had known for a month that this was happening. I'm now afraid of how good a liar my roommate is.

Somehow, I got the house cleaned and I got showered by 5:00. Mom and Dad came over, always glad to see them, and after about 15 minutes, In walked Eileen and Matt......!? Of course, Meghan had a video camera and was recording my reaction to this. Katie is a terrible liar and tried to convince me (via text) that she had no idea any of this was going on, but when I walked out after the show, there she was in Nichols Theatre Lobby. Oh Katie.

The next day was a typical Kranz vacation day. By typical I mean we went on a dramatically long walk up until we had an hour before we needed to be somewhere. Dinner at Olive Garden was lovely. Wine and a martini later, The sisters left my phone number for the waiter (we later established that only works ONCE in your life), and after the show headed out to Aggieville, the notorious K-State Bar district. All of my friends loved my sisters ("4 Lisas?!")("Now I understand how Lisa happened....")

This is the point where I don't know what happened anymore. Another sister must pick up the story from here. Its probably funnier from their perspective....

Also, I'll point out that there are no photos from this because "new" facebook has blocked people form lifting photos from the site. Blame facebook for the lack of photography. Another sister took pictures, I'm sure of it.

Love,
This introductory paragraph will begin with a statement about the fact that I am blogging, and will outline the key goals of this posting. I am blogging. This blog will consist of the following sections: A) I will state who is writing this blog. 2) I will state that it has been a while since I have blogged. d) I will post some sentences and/or pictures that illustrate some of the recent events of my life

A) This is Eileen.

2) It has been a while since I have blogged. I wish I could go all Hyperbole and a Half (hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com) on you guys and post a fantastic hand drawn picture of myself looking forlorn over the fact that I am remiss in my blogging responsibilities. That being said, why not give it a try:

d) The following paragraphs will consist of one recent and major event in the lives of the Kranz family. (Warning: This will contain a demonstration of my superior photography skills).

So now that we have that out of the way.... 2 Fridays ago I flew into Baltimore for the Army/Navy game. At the risk of blatantly exaggerating, I will say that the weekend was easily one of the most legendary weekends in the Kranz Family history. Upon arriving at BWI, I was picked up by Kate, Meghan and Dad (both of whom had blown in from Kansas (not a typo) the night before. We went to lunch near the Inner Harbor at the Cheesecake Factory, and noshed on some appetizers and beer while waiting for Uncle Joe to show up! Once he arrived, Katie, Meghan and I departed from them to go run errands to get ready for the big day. Dad did not want to go to Dallas so he stayed with Joe and went to the USNS COMFORT Christmas Party instead. WE on the other, WENT TO DALLAS, and it was fun. First stop: Town Hall to pick up the Keg and a smattering of other tailgater necessities (read; more beer, rum, peppermint schnapps). The Pathfinder was already super full, but that did not stop us from our NEXT errand: Sam's Club. At this point Katie was beginning to feel the weight of the burden of being in charge of the Class of 2002 tailgater, especially when the hamburger buns filled up a third of the shopping cart and we still had Eleventy Billion more things on the list.

We are very good at Tetris.

Eventually we made it through Sam's, managed to jam everything in to the car and made it back to the house by 10pm (via Travis' for the giant stock pot for chili and a couple Dark and Stormies...). By 1am Meghan and Katie had the car packed, Eileen had successfully busted out a massive vat of chili and buffalo dip (while finishing off a bottle of Gainey Cabernet...). Don't be fooled by this picture, the venture of the evening did NOT actually kill Meghan:

Alarms went off at 6am. We needed to be on the road by 6:30. Coffee, showers, primping (you need to look fabulous for Army/Navy).... out the door by 7:00- not bad! We swung by Wawa to pick up coffee and off to Philly we went! No pictures from this part of the morning. ... even the best photographers have to respect the fact that the wee hours are no time for pictures.

We arrived at the parking lot around 10am and began a whirlwind tailgater set up, complete with MASSIVE grill, Blimp, mimosas, breakfast burritos and hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps.
In Conclusion, the above blog posting covered the following points: a) I am Eileen. 2) I blogged. d) we went to the Army/ Navy Game. This blog was intended to be both informative and entertaining. Title of the blog... Naive expression of football..... Modulation and I hold a high note!Katie Eileen Meghan and Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07962660245650861754noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6336465851607318364.post-30667529896031364782010-12-14T12:19:00.000-08:002010-12-14T12:19:00.390-08:00Rock Me Amadeus.....I haven't blogged a whole lot about my life. Everyone knew I went to Hawaii, etc. Sometimes I feel my actual life here in Manhattan is a Mystery to some people. New years resolution...I'll work on that.
I live with my very good friend Lauren Michelle Perez. We bonded my freshman year when she was my theatre mentor, and we make the best roommates. Its really a perfect system. Our townhouse apartment is so cute, and we really are having all the fun. More pictures to come...someday.

A few months ago, Lauren brought up to me that she wanted to get a dog. Since she is graduating in May, her philosophy is that she doesn't want to move alone. So after much deliberation, she bought a Siberian husky and named me its second mother. Meet Amadeus, my new roomie.

Meet Amadeus. (Ami for short) He is 8 weeks old, and I named him when I was doing my Music Theory homework. He is very well behaved (he's almost entirely housebroken already!)

This is the weirdest dog I have ever met. He hates puppy treats (We're training him with soynuts, its how I got him to sit still for these pictures), and when we first got him, he didn't eat until we lured him to the puppy chow with sweet and sour sauce.

He's gonna be a big guy too....his dad was 75 pounds! :) I never thought I'd turn into much of a mommy until I heard myself say "Amadeus, no! Does that belong to us? That is NOT how we do"
Anyway, He's my new little love, and check out those blue eyes! He's so pretty...I love living with him...even when he tried to chew on my slippers.
I could never get over the hump. I've always wanted to run a half marathon in 2:00:00 and have never quite been able to. Well, not counting half of my whole marathon. I did the first split in exactly 2:00:00. Where that came from I have no idea. Two weeks after that I did a half and did it in 2:05:23.
Well I actually made myself do speed work and it paid off!
I went to Dallas this weekend (with some fabulous friends) to run the Dallas White Rock 1/2. My only goal was to do it in under 2:00:00 even if that meant doing it in 1:59:59. :) Well I pushed myself and cranked it out in 1:59:33! Average 9:06 minute mile! Yipee!!!!Katie Eileen Meghan and Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07962660245650861754noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6336465851607318364.post-8896023311474380082010-11-28T17:16:00.001-08:002010-11-28T18:10:20.201-08:00Give Thanks, with a greatful heart...The past two weeks for me have been filled with fun, friends, family and Many blessings!
The Month of November was really my first month since Marathon life, eating like a bird, and other schedule swallowing things, that I have had free weekends to go out and spend time with my friends! I had my first glass of wine since April! Needless to say...I'm a bit of a light weight... :)<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEildIzhV-tVu28D9QRGNLM4hxSPwOJhxiujKg6tpWFdcw-vbjqv-BuATaEanzn-OtYk6C3IgitiX2SWNR-PX2uOyfVOyk-v0FuhCu4w0F1GEWc559ICb8MIxeqqycTfK7R-6YQjIBxe_GIX/s320/358.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5544782618267531058" />My friends have been incredible through everything. Of all the fall baked goods that I have concocted in the last few months, the one that stands out as the most additively delectable would have to be The Donut Muffin. It's not very autumn-y, not an ounce of pumpkin in sight (thought that WOULD be good... challenge acCEPted!), although I did take it upon myself to add 2-3 times more cinnamon than this recipe call for.

For your viewing/baking pleasure:

Donut Muffins:
* 1 3/4 cup flour
* 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp nutmeg
* 1/2 tsp cinnamon
* 1/3 cup vegetable oil
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 1 egg
* 3/4 cup milk

For the topping:

* 1/4 cup butter
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 1 Tbsp cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a muffin pan with cooking spray. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. In another medium bowl, stir together the oil, sugar, egg, and milk.Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined. Spoon the batter into the muffin pan and bake 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. While the muffins are baking, melt the butter. In a small bowl, whisk together the cinnamon and sugar. When the muffins are done, carefully remove them from the pan. While they are still warm, dip each one first into the melted butter, and then in the cinnamon-sugar to coat. Allow to cool a few minutes before serving.

(Adapted from http://sugarcrafter.net)

In other news, my new job at Mt Holyoke College is amazing! I love my classes, my co-workers, my office and my view!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3ssVRLgDJYgJDdW-fYuG0r5NbkZNqWMgfy3SjUJA3MEST9iQa5hjb9ay_HjwfJRkUejZViKHMzmHp3BSb8fFVdLD_K3nsCsqiHvSYBQkDaV8p_iuXdu5zhK1CvhD5lbCVPX4ZIre-3ZZp/s400/P1000939.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5539815910340411058" />

The only downside is that the college is 90 miles away from Waltham, so I drive out there on Monday mornings and don't come back till Thursday evening. The upside to this downside is that the Hills have generously allowed me to stay in their guest house "The Barn" in East Longmeadow, which cuts down on my commute time by about 2 hours per day! This set up has also taught me to not take my time with Matt for granted, and I always get really excited to drive home on Thursdays! With all the driving I've been doing these last few months, Zippy (aka The Plum), my trusty Honda Civic recently rolled over to 100,000 thousand miles!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNFHNKlZuJwVBKhkl50jH6A_axYGIKuVEr3iBORp0asSzAMbifeSCWkPBAjV_v7A74FGX-8unTGG68WKht9dBWie5OMs8L8MwuW60BKHU02JUSGKv8ia6fxmZHHzH4gMsDu29Ky71JNJpx/s400/P1000946.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5539817965476698418" />

Also, I had to inform Matt that since this is a) my dream job, and b) in the most beautiful part of Massachusetts, he may want to consider a post-doc or faculty job our here once he graduates. Well this year was different.

My Halloween weekend began on Friday at school. My third grade teammate and I dressed up as things 1 & 2 from the Cat in the Hat. The kiddos loved it! It was such fun do be a dork with my team mate all day! We got a note from one of the students thanking us for dressing up. She said she had never had a teacher dress up and it was so fun for her...and that is why I love my job!
Then we had Halloween parties at school. Crazy but such fun! My students were so cute in their outfits! One kid was jar of Pickles! I had to take a picture...How did she know about my relationship with pickles!?!

So after the crazy school day was over I hopped in the car and traveled five hours to visit James! It's been two years of him up there in Law school and I've been a horrible best friend and I've never gone to visit. James loves dressing up for Halloween and call it coincidence but this year he decided to be a penguin! (For those of you who don't know James and I....we LOVE penguins. We've always shared this bond)<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGMc49QC3iwLJfcEPPSYM8NvZwsGX-jOuSJrAr6IKdFU_hQMueW8TkBL0RK4Up8S_UO8lKylSf7HUCuGQspEJIGoz6624wRXYQrOO0wqHaH2kt6MF5-5fKjIlMZa0dEFY3I0ovZn63TRGR/s320/DSC03976.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534783973664924402" />

James and I went to Law school fun events with friends! Unfortunately I was Zone 4 which caused me to be one of the last to board the plane. Upon entering the aircraft I quickly realized that there would not be any room for my carry on suit case to fit in the overhead compartments. I very willing gave my bag to the attendant who told me they would GATE check it for me (meaning I would get it when I got off the plane in Detroit, much like a stroller).
7:40 pm
Landed in Detroit. Waited when I got off the plane with the other Gate Checked bag folks....I waited....and I waited. No bag. When everyone had left I asked the attendent when I would receive my bag. She informed me that they had not "gate" checked my bag, but checked it all the way through for me. Ok...not a big a deal I guess...
8:00 pm EST
Flight to Portland delayed till 1:40.
2:00 am EST
Flight CANCELLED!
4:00 am EST
Checked into hotel after finally getting re booked on a flight....I would not be leaving Detroit until 7:40 pm on Friday...awesome.
